Knowing God

There are very few modern Christian classics.  “Knowing God” is one of them.  Written by J.I. Packer, a first-rate scholar with a deep heart for God, the book has had enormous impact over the last 40 years.  I have probably read it eight or nine times.  It could easily be read once a year and the reader would profit immensely.

Packer begins with several penetrating chapters on the importance of knowing God and what it means to know God.  He then moves on to delineate a dozen or so attributes of God.  He has superb chapters on the Incarnation of Jesus, on the majesty of God, on Christ’s death for us, on adoption, on suffering, and on the adequacy of God (Romans 8).

This classic is a not-to-be-missed goldmine of wisdom and biblical insight.
