By Harper Lee
This is the classic American novel of a young girl growing up in rural Alabama in the 1930s. Scout Finch and her older brother Jem are raised by a single father, Atticus Finch, a highly respected attorney in town.
The book was published in 1960 and won the Pulitzer.
It is an enduring story of the young girl Scout and her older brother growing up and dealing with issues of prejudice in Alabama of the 1930s. Her father is assigned by the court to defend a black man, wrongly accused of rape.
It is an outstanding novel and was good to read for the first time since probably my high school years. It makes me want to re-watch the classic movie now.
